Sugarloaf Maine Wedding Photographers
Emily and Kurt were married at Sugarloaf on Saturday, September 20, 2014. It was a gorgeous autumn day in the mountains of Maine! Emily was raised nearby to, and skied at Killington, while Kurt grew up nearby in Maine’s Carrabassett Valley, in the shadows of Sugarloaf. Both being avid skiers, this was a very fitting location for them to begin their married life. And it was equally fun at Sugarloaf Maine wedding photographers!
Below, the couple poses against and colorful steel wall with the iconic Sugarloaf logo.
Their ceremony was at the ski resort’s fabled “wedding bridge”. We loved the light, the peace and quiet, and the fact that they chose to have their ceremony at ground level. Not only did this connect them more with their families and guests, it also allowed us, as Sugarloaf Maine wedding photographers, to use the bridge for this fun shot, using our super-wide fisheye lens.
Below, Emily and Kurt are on their way to the reception in chairlift style. Their guests were also treated to a beautiful ~5 minute ride up the slope connecting the wedding ceremony location to the cocktail hour and reception at the base lodge areas.
Emily and Kurt chose to do a first-look, which afforded lots of opportunity for photos like this one!
There’s nothing quite like a red convertible with a bride and groom to zoom past the photographer on a Maine country road!
Emily’s beautiful, lace wedding gown, was from Madeleine’s Daughter, customized especially for Emily.
Below, Emily and Kurt’s first look. A wedding day first look is when the bride and groom see each other before the ceremony. The first look is normally done in a private and intimate setting. For Emily and Kurt’s, they chose the beautifully scenic Sugarloaf Outdoor Center, which has a beautiful pond. Just perfect for this very special moment.
Emily and Kurt stopped by the Sugarloaf Golf Club for a few shots; this course is consistently rated as one of the Top 10 most scenic courses in the United States.
Emily’s dad walks her down the aisle, below, towards the ceremony site.
All of the guests and bridal party took the chairlift from the ceremony site to the reception. Emily and Kurt are on their way, below.
A little bit of a “flyover” of the bride and groom over the cocktail hour location ‘Sugarloafers’ affectionately call “the beach”.
There was a wonderful array of fine desserts and pastries for the guests to enjoy.
Emily knew when she first saw this bench at the lobby of the Sugarloaf Mountain Hotel that she wanted a photo taken the night of her wedding. We were most happy to oblige.
Emily surprised Kurt with a fireworks show midway through the reception, below. What a fun and festive way to begin your married life together!
The beautiful flowers that Emily chose were from the Skowhegan Fleuriste. Just gorgeous!!
