Nonantum Weddings | Kennebunkport Maine
Tara and Steve enjoyed a beautifully elegant wedding at the Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport, Maine on Saturday, October 17, 2015. It’s no secret that we love Kennebunkport and Nonantum weddings, and Tara and Steve’s special day was yet another reason! While the day dawned with chilly temperatures, the showers and rain held off and gave us some stunning skies! What is evident about Tara and Steve, is that they are both so kind and caring, they think about others before themselves. When you meet them they make you feel at ease because they themselves are so easy going.
Tara and Steve were so relaxed, which made their wedding day flowed so smoothly. There was a wedding day first look at Gooch’s Beach in Kennebunk, Maine. A wedding day first look is when the couple chooses to see each other before the wedding ceremony, carefully arranged with the photographers. The first look is a sweetly intimate moment, one that is most often in a secluded location. Tara and Steve chose their first look location at the base of the breakwater at one end of Gooch’s Beach. We just love the first look, it is one of our very favorite moments during wedding day.
Notable Moments
Some of the notable moments during Tara and Steve’s day included a medallion ceremony with Tara’s son Landon. Landon was asked to join Tara and Steve, where he was presented with a family medallion, solidifying their family union.
Tara and Steve also had a love letter and wine box ceremony, which we had never seen. They had a beautiful wooden wine box that held their favorite wine. They had each written a love letter to each other. The letters were sealed and added to the box during the ceremony. The wine box is supposed be opened on their 5th wedding anniversary. There is only one other reason the box should be opened before that 5th anniversary. If there should come a time when the couple hits a bumpy road in their relationship, before they give up or make any irrational decisions, they should open the wine box and read their letters. The hope is that there will never be a reason to have to open the box except on the 5th anniversary!
Another special moment during the day was when Steve and the groomsmen arrived to the ceremony via sailboat! It may have been chilly, but what a great entrance!
Tara and Steve chose to have an unplugged wedding, where their guests are asked to keep all electronic devices put away. Studies show that guests are more present in the moment with an unplugged event and enjoy themselves more, win win!
What follows are our favorite moments of the story of Tara and Steve’s wedding day. Enjoy!
A beautiful and romantic first look. Below.
When the Maine weather cooperates, Nonantum weddings are held outside on the lawn, down by the river. Talk about a quintessential Maine backdrop, with lobster boats lined up in front of the guests!
